Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Tara graduated from Tulane University in 2006 with a BFA in Fine Art. In 2010-2011, she spent eight months studying the Complete Programme of Special Effects for TV and Film at Complections International Academy of Makeup Artistry (now CMU College of Makeup Artistry) in Toronto, Canada. Tara returned to New Orleans to pursue a career in the film industry. Unfortunately, this was just as Louisiana was losing the battle for “Hollywood South” to Atlanta, so she switched to selling her art online for several years independently under the name Nether Den Studio, using her special effects background to create prosthetics and realistic animal costumes.
In 2020, Tara returned to school once again to pursue her interests in Biology. She attended Delgado Community College for two years to attain an Associates Degree in Science Laboratory Technology with a Biotechnology focus. After being unable to find laboratory work locally in New Orleans, she moved to Albuquerque in 2021 for a job at Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute. Tara is currently finishing up a Bachelors Biology/Psychology double major degree at the University of New Mexico. Her current creative interests are writing fiction (including screenwriting) and special effects puppetry.
Tara has been married since 2014 to Jason Carter, a currently-retired British stage, film, and television actor best known for his role of “Marcus Cole” in the American science-fiction television series “Babylon 5”.
