BT Dragon (“Harald”)
This Bluetooth-eating dragon virtual pet was created as a way to learn AI-prompting to “vibe-code” something fun for personal use. What initially began as a small-scope project quickly snowballed into something more expansive. BT Dragon for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W computer fosters curiosity and learning about the invisible digital signals that surround us every day as well a promoting real-world exploration and even some ecological education. The book-tracking and virtual insect-collecting features from Bookworm were imported into this project, though they are now independent of one another and function on the Pi without internet access (aside from the book search feature).
Bookworm
An HTML, browser-based book-tracking program that hatches virtual insects as a reward. Bookworm is a reading tracker built as a virtual pet. Every book started hatches an insect larva, each page read feeds it and grows it through its life stages. When the book is finished, the adult emerges and joins the Species Collection, along with field notes about the real insect. It’s meant to be educational and friendly for beginners in entomology. Every species card is fact-checked, links to free guides from conservation organizations, and lists its sources.
